Supporting Nature: Gardening with Native Plants on the Sunshine Coast

Event Date:
March 23, 2019 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Want to have a thriving garden that helps local wildlife, including birds, butterflies and bees? The SCCP is partnering with the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden for a free introductory afternoon workshop on how to create a nature-friendly backyard using native plants. The event will include a tour of the native plant garden.

The event will feature Harry Hill, coordinator of the Native Garden Garden at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden. Harry's extensive gardening background includes being a founding member of the Native Plant Society of BC, and editor of Menziesia, its newsletter, for seven years. He is a founding board member of the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society who designed (and coordinates) the Garden's Native Plant Garden. He operated Wood Hill Gardens, a small native plant nursery for four years and currently designs gardens.

Refreshments will be provided. Each participant will receive a copy of the 'Gardening with Native Plants in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley' guide.
